Reading this book, where MK actually possesses a heavy dose of common sense, has made me realise just how normalised dumb behaviour from heroines has become in some romantic subgenres. She has her head screwed on right (most of the time, anyway) and her sass is endearing without coming off as forced. ✔️ Madison Kate is a very likeable heroine.

Someone knows more about my life than I do. I’ve been lied to, repeatedly, by people I was growing to trust. Since arriving back into Shadow Grove, I’ve been stalked, tormented, chased and almost killed. I have no idea if it’s the lie I know, or one that I don’t. The words scrawled on the back of my newest stalker mail makes my blood run cold.
